FAQ
Why choose mobile pet grooming?
Mobile pet grooming offers a stress free environment for you and your pet. Imagine not wrestling your pet into a crate or the car. Imagine not having to take the time out of your busy day to drop off and pick up. Imagine being able to have a happy, friendly, groomer greet you at your home or office or even at your happy hour spot or boat launch. Your pet will no longer have to be groomed in an environment with the potential of exposure to illness, fleas, and the stress of other barking dogs. Never again will your pet have to wait hours on end in a cage, listening to the unfamiliar cries of other animals waiting for their turn to be groomed. You and your dog will always have the same groomer available to talk to and go over your pets service. This ensures that you always have personalized one-on-one service. We utilize a Bathing Beauty luxury bathing system that not only gets your pet squeaky clean but provides great relief for dogs with hip displaysia, muscle aches, and arthritis. We maintain a clean, sanitary, professional environment. We use professional grade products formulated specifically for a dog's skin. Our unique spa services and our state of the art grooming van ensure that you and your best friend have a professional, courteous, positive, stress free, and relaxing pet grooming experience.
What can I expect when booking a appointment with Hair Off The Dog Mobile Grooming?
First time clients are welcome to take a look inside our mobile grooming van, we typically do this after the groom as it helps keep the dog calm. Please let us know if you would like to check it out!
All of our clients fill out a new client application to give us a clear idea of how to best serve you and your pet. A one to two hour arrival window will be given to you based on your scheduled appointment. You should receive a reminder text/email/call a few days before your appointment, it should ask for confirmation of the appointment. You will also receive a text message from us when we are on the way. Please let us know if you prefer a call before we arrive and for reminders. When we arrive for your first appointment we will have a consultation going over your pet from nose to tail. We will further discuss your grooming expectations, and go over any additional requests or concerns you may have. After our discussion we will escort your pet into the van (We use a secure slip lead to ensure your pet's safety outside of your home or our van.). We will then return your best friend fresh, clean, and feeling great.
*We ask you to email a copy of your rabies certificate prior to your appointment for our records.
What areas does Hair Off the Dog Mobile Grooming service?
We currently serve all of the Madison area. Our routes are always changing, please call to inquire about our current routes.
Do you use our electricity or water?
No, We are completely self sufficient. We may sometimes ask to plug in, if that is the case we will ask before or at the beginning of the appointment, and will simply need an outlet to plug into outside of your home. Many people have these near their front door, or in the garages.
Can I see the inside of your van?
Absolutely! We know people are curious about the van, and I am happy to show you. We just ask for privacy while we are grooming your pet. Sometimes pets can become distressed during the grooming process when they see their owners and it can make it difficult to safely complete their grooming services.
Do you groom cats?
We do not take cats at this time.
Do you express anal glands?
Yes, this is an add on service, we no longer include it with regular grooms due to conflicting vet opinion. We are happy to do it for your pet during their service as an add-on.
Do you charge extra for matted pets?
Although our services include almost everything, we do charge extra for dematting and/or shaving a matted coat. We will never tack on extra fees without discussing it you first or initially at the consultation.

My schedule is really busy, and I do not always have time to schedule service. How can you accommodate me?
After our first visit we are more then happy to serve you and your pet without you present. You can provide us with entry to your home in a way that works for you. Key's in lock box's, door code, garage code, neighbors, etc. can all let me in. I can also groom your pup while they are in daycare, just give them a heads up!
Grooming salons keep my pet sometimes all day, how long does mobile grooming take?
Grooming salons take in a high volume of animals every day. Your pet is typically surrounded by several other pets and humans, in a loud unfamiliar environment. Mobile grooming is a one-to-one service. On average animals take 1-3 hours to groom. For added convenience we can also make arrangements to groom your pet while you are away so you can come home to a fresh clean pet!
How old does an animal have to be to have their first spa day?
An early start on a grooming regimen is helping the groomer and your best friend start off on the right paw. Grooming is something your pet will need monthly for the rest of their lives so sooner the better! We recommend starting after 8 weeks of age, after appropriate shots have been administered and puppy is weaned, and healthy.
Do you provide handstripping services or rolling of the coat?
At this time we do not, but are happy to refer you to someone who does.
Do you accept animals that have been sedated or do you sedate animals yourself?
Mobile grooming is a great solution for animals that have anxiety from being at the groomers since its a very peaceful one on one experience. With that being said if you are still concerned that your pet may still need to be sedated while in our care, then your pet should be groomed under a veterinarians supervision.
